Demolishers working their way through my back court

I’d like to let you know about a dodgy demolition works going on in my back court. Since before Christmas, an old disused cinema has been having work done – but with no apparent regard for health and safety of the workers, or of the residents who are on all sides of the property.

I’ve spent weeks looking out of my back window as builders tiptoed across high girders in the rain, with no support and no safety equipment. They ripped off the roof and outside walls with no thought of asbestos – debris falling into our back courts where children regularly play. And then to top it all, they started the main demolition last week, without any warning at all.

What can residents do about this? Is it because I live in Govanhill, not the West End, that the council have let this go on?

Cowboys! Call the papers/TV, get them on Builders from Hell...
