07/07/2009

Britain's Got Talent star wishes he could have performed live with idol

Britain’s Got Talent singer Shaheen Jafargholi has spoken of his shattered dream of sharing a stage with his idol Michael Jackson.

The 12-year-old star joined the A-list cast at the massive memorial concert in
Los Angeles today, after the Jackson family told Shaheen the King of Pop was a huge fan.

Shaheen flew out to LA with his mother Karen after the phone call, and had just a few hours to rehearse before performing on the bill alongside Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder and Lionel Richie. “Michael was a huge inspiration to me,” said the child star. “I’m nervous, but I’m honoured and privileged to have been invited

Speaking to The Big Issue shortly before Jackson’s death, Shaheen revealed his biggest dream was to duet with the King of Pop. “I would love to perform somewhere huge like Madison Square Gardens. To share a stage with Michael Jackson would be the most amazing thing ever,” he said.

The showbiz legend had seen Shaheen performing the early Jackson 5 song Whose Lovin’ You on YouTube and told his family he was “knocked out” by the youngster. The Swansea schoolboy had also performed as Jackson in Thriller Live - a West End stage show.
